Willow Farm Park is located on the site of the former Koch sugar beet farm. Working with a local developer, the city of Longmont relocated and renovated the historic barn as a picnic shelter and classroom space. Willow Creek runs along the southern edge of the site and to the west are spectacular views of the front range. In response to an art in public places competition, Artscapes developed an alphabet rhyme of the place. This whimsical poem leads visitors through the park to discover artistic elements fabricated by Artscapes and unique site features. |
For example, children might discover a prancing piggy high in the air, or an oversized letter "L" cradling a telescope that frames a view of Longs and Meeker peaks. In the water play area, the web footed imprints of ducks overlap the tracks of giant dinosaurs who once roamed the front range. Much beloved by the public, the park also received a merit award from the American Society of Landscape Architects. |
