Artscapes designed and installed this canopy for the stage at Fletcher Plaza. This sculptural canopy is a centerpiece for the Colfax concourse and a link between the Plaza and the surrounding area. The design creates a three dimensional interpretation of the plaza paving. The canopy translates the system of spirals, rings and triangles from the plaza floor into a sculptural form. A rhythm of solids and voids generate shadow patterns on the stage and on the piece itself. Geometric shadows dance over the stage as the sun makes its way across the sky. The piece is a symbol and landmark for the City of Aurora and compliments existing efforts to revitalize Colfax as "Main Street."
